Portrait of the Artist in a Building
Title
Portrait of the Artist in a Building
Description
This project consists of a series of portraits of the artist, made exclusively from photographs of buildings taken while Jonathan Monk was inside them.
The artist was not meant to be the only person in the building, but the only one involved in the project.
The selected buildings were the Eiffel Tower in Paris, the TV Tower in Berlin, the BT Tower in London, the CN Tower in Toronto, and the Empire State Building in New York.
The result would have been a series of photographs of these buildings, with the artist invisible in the image yet actually portrayed at the top of each structure, looking directly into the camera lens.
The project was ultimately abandoned by the artist.
