Mangelos

Conz decided to include the works of Mangelos, who died in 1987, asking the remaining members of the group to place their signature on the back as sort of an homage. The three works signed by the members of Gorgona and presented for the exhibition are respectively attributed to the manifesto for energy, the series of landscapes dedicated to Pythagoras and the series dedicated to the dialogues. As an expression of functional thinking, the posters of the artist were reproduced on notepads, globes and blackboards, and are attributed – following the chronological order defined by the artist himself - to the last three stages of his production (1963-1987), particularly the 70s. The serigraphs used for Francesco Conz's publication are part of a process of reduction and summary of his own theories to a minimum of necessary information undertaken by the artist, as well as translations and transitions between different media - from the blackboard to writings and paintings and finally the serigraphs. Through painting and writing, Mangelos depicts a landscape dedicated to Pythagoras (one of many references and dialogues undertaken with different philosophers), a dialogue - comparable to the Dialogue with Death preserved in the Tate collections - and a manifesto of energy, which is significantly limited its title, some numbers and the words teorija energije.
